Registration, entry and cash-in

Registration

You should register students at the start of their course for the qualification they are expected to achieve. There is no need at this stage to specify a level.

Remember, AiDA is the equivalent of one GCSE, CiDA of two, CiDA+ of three and DiDA of four. There is no point registering a student for a qualification that requires a bigger time allocation than is available.

Don't worry if the qualification a student eventually completes is different from the one they are registered for. There is no need to amend a registration if a student's goal changes. You will be charged an additional entry fee for any unit entries over and above those covered by the registration fee.

Entry

You must complete a unit entry for a student in order to be able to submit a mark for them. When making an entry, you must specify the unit and the level. Shortly afterwards you will be notified via Edexcel Online of the sample required for moderation.

Candidates who have attempted a Level 2 project brief, but have been assessed at Level 1 using the truncated grid, must be entered at Level 1.

Cash-in

Candidates may be entered for multiple cash-ins.

It's a good idea to cash-in for all the DiDA qualifications a candidate is potentially eligible for, e.g. if a candidate is aiming to achieve DiDA they should also cash-in for CiDA+, CiDA and AiDA.  We will issue a qualification result for each of the cash-ins.

A candidate who has cashed-in for one DiDA qualification can go on to cash-in for another one at a later date. For example, a candidate who completes Unit 1 in Year 10 can cash-in for AiDA at that point and subsequently, having completed a second unit in Year 11, cash-in for CiDA. If they complete one or two further units post-16 they can cash-in CiDA+ and DiDA.

There is no charge for entering cash-in codes or for making multiple cash-ins. Further cash-in information can be found here.

Edexcel Online

Registrations, entries and cash-ins can be submitted either via Edexcel Online or EDI.

All entries for Adobe Associate Certification must be entered via Edexcel Online.

Eligibility

If a student is entered at Level 2, but fails to achieve a Level 2 Pass, they are NOT automatically awarded a Level 1 result. Instead they are classified as Ungraded at Level 2. The only way they can get a grade at Level 1 is to be entered at Level 1. This doesn’t necessarily matter if they’re not cashing in because their UMS score for the unit is the same either way. It becomes an issue if a they want to claim a Level 1 qualification overall and haven't got the required number of Level 1 entries.

Students can achieve a Level 2 qualification result with a combination of  Level 1 and Level 2 units. For example, a student who achieves 72 UMS overall having completed Unit 1 at Level 1 and Unit 4 at Level 2 is eligible for a Level 2 CiDA Pass (or a level 1 CiDA Distinction). To be eligible for a qualification at a particular level at least half the units making up that qualification must have been attempted at that level.
